Eucharistic Minister
Anyone who is Catholic, 18 years of age and older, and has received the Sacraments of: Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation is eligible. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, call the Rectory Office at 814-454-8085.
An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion helps to assist the Parish Priest with distributing Holy Communion at Mass. Every 3 years you will be asked to take a refresher course and or if this is your first time, you will be asked to attend a class lead by the Parish Priest usually held once a year in the Springtime.
Upon completion of this one-day class, the Parish Pastor will submit your name to the Bishop, who will then commission you as a Minister by decree. The Rectory Office will then work with your personal schedule to find dates and Mass times that work best for you.
Lector
Anyone who is Catholic and comfortable reading out loud in front of people may be eligible. Please call the Rectory Office to request your preferred Mass time and you will be aligned with a current veteran Lector to train you. You will receive a Lector Book from the Sacristan to keep and practice your assigned reading with one book provided every year.
Usher
Anyone who is Catholic, mobile, and comfortable handling the Offertory Basket can volunteer in this capacity.
Please call the Rectory Office to coordinate the Mass time that you prefer and you will be aligned with a current veteran Usher to train you on this task and associated responsibilities.
Liturgy of the Word Aide
Anyone who is Catholic, and 13 years of age and older is welcome to become a Liturgy of the Word Aide.
Job duties include assisting the Lead Teacher on scheduled Sunday mornings at the 10:30am Masses.
At Mass, after the Opening Prayer, the Priest will welcome any children, pre-school through elementary school ages to gather at the main altar for a prayer. This is when you will join with the children and the Lead Teacher and walk to the side Altar Chapel for a Bible lesson and craft.
During this time, you will assist the Lead Teacher by helping to set out craft items and keeping the children busy and entertained. Averages about 20 + minutes.
At the Offertory time of the Mass the Lead Teacher will dismiss the children back to their families and you will be able to attend the remainder of the Mass.
If interested and you are older than 18 years of age you must complete the Erie Diocesan mandatory Compliance Packet of documents and receive approved clearances before you can be scheduled by the rectory office as a Liturgy of the Word Aide. The rectory office will assist you in the process of compliance. Please note: this time qualifies as Service Hours, and the rectory office will be happy to document your time.
